Participants learn the principles and practicalities of
bow design 'hands on' under the guidance of experienced bowmakers, by making a simple flatbow. using
readily available whitewoods from the board
Many have their bow at a shootable stage by the end of the two-day course.
Talks and/or demonstrations of stringmaking, steaming and backing etc. are
included to give workers a well-earned break.
It's an exhausting but enjoyable weekend and you have a unique bow of your own to show for it!
SPTA workshop instructors are experienced archers with various
specialisations.
Whatever your traditional archery interest, we will do our best to help
with information and guidance.
